For starters the bike is a 1992 WR250, mostly. It's got a bunch of YZ250 bits shoved on from various years, including radiators and swingarm. Like any older dirtbike it's in need of TLC and parts... lots of parts. I'd love to just be able to pick apart a dead WR250/YZ250 for the bits I need instead of chasing multiple auctions on eBay, but all the normal salvage yards I know of are focused on road bikes. Any local options before I resort to online shopping?

Suspension at MX207 this weekend?

anyone know if there will be any suspension guys at this weekends race (207)? I weigh around 205 with gear. I'm running .46 spring rate front and 5.5 rear which is what proaction and Mxtech both recommend. I have the race sag set at 3.75" and have a static sag of 1.25". According to the suspension tuning techniques under the common threads on a thumper talk, I should have 4" race sag and between 3/4" & 1.5" of static sag. I'm looking for someone to validate this information. Should I loosen up the pre-load adjuster until I get 4" race sag? If so I will end up with about 1 1/2" static, which according to thumper talk is within the desirable range. Or, should I keep the 3.75 race with 1.25 static. Im assuming the 3.75 race sag will lend itself better for cornering and more high speed stability with 4" race sag.

any thoughts please let me know.

Regards,

what gear is this?

first off, i didnt do this and its not my bike.

bike is a '06 yamaha 450

my friend whos a hazard with a wrench successfully destroyed this gear by putting the clutch basket/hub back on with an impact wrench and NOT taking the 5 seconds to line the gears up.

im pretty sure its just an idle gear but cant find it on the yamaha parts fiche

clutch question

what are some possible causes of a clutch ('06 yz250f) do not fully disengage?

i.e. put the bike in gear with the clutch pulled in and it starts to roll away?

Will a 2005 crf250 full exhaust system fit on the 2006 crf250?

Im looking for a full single side exhaust to put on my 2006 crf250 and keep finding full systems off 2005 bikes for much cheaper then 06-09. On 8/3 at Hemmonds I laid my bike down after tearing my ACL. The bike laid down for about 20 minutes. Since then, I have not been able to start. However after not trying for about 2 weeks just for the hell of it, I tried and it started on the first kick. It ran well, I took it up the road a couple times and then it stalled back in my driveway. Now I cannot get it started again. I changed the plug, and trouble shooted everything that I know. I did notice that while the bike is in gear, the clutch is not fully engaging. This seems to be a new issue, and not sure if it related. My second guess is there may be some valve adjustment needed. I read up on some stuff online and decided to switch from a 40 pilot to a 42, and switch from a 182 main to a 180. When I took the float bowl off the carb I noticed some dirt so I cleaned that all out. When I took out the pilot it was clogged, so that would account for the crappy idle. I put in the 42 and 180 and put it back together. I ran it yesterday and it still idled bad and backfired on decel evenmore than before. It also had quite a hesitation bog when I was sitting in neautral and hit the throttle hard. My questions are,

!.) How did dirt get into the carb if the air filter is clean and sealed good, the carb boots are sealed good and the filter on the petcock was clean?

2.) Why is it backfiring so much on decel?

3.) Why is that bog happening?

4.) Why is it idling poorly?

5.) Is there an easier way to get to the fuel screw than taking off the carb everytime you want to adjust it? My manual doesn't specify whether I need titanium or stainless steel intake valves. I want to replace with whatever is the stock type.

Also I was told with only 60 hours on the bike I only need to do the intakes and not the exhaust but wondering if anybody has an opinion on that. I was thinking since it's apart I might as well do both but don't want to waist money for no reason.

Thanks,
-Patrick

Bike idle

My bike will start up fine and everything but just will not idle on its own, ive played with the screw but it still doesnt work please help
