The board voted to use a different insurer instead of using the AMA. This means that an AMA card will not be required to race at NEMA for 2008. The board is also looking into reducing race day paperwork.

Membership cost was discussed, with the cost being $80 from Jan 15th – March 15th, and then $100 at the track. The cost of a one day membership was reduced to $20. Race fees are to remain the same for 2008 at this time.

Class Changes:
The board voted to create a pit bike class. This is to be a championship class, but may run a reduced number of races, possibly on double weekends only. Championship trophies to be awarded to top 5. The class will have a 2 moto format at regular entry rates. One class is to be 12 and under, the other class 13 and up. Initial requirements are for a 110cc 4 stroke motorcycle or smaller, or a 2 stroke oil-injected motor 50cc or smaller. Wheel size is 12” maximum. Race bikes are not allowed in this class.

The KTM 144cc motocross bike will be allowed to race in the 125 classes for 2008. Additionally, other 125 2 stroke bikes can be increased in size to 144cc, both boring and stroking are allowed. 2 stroke 250cc bikes will not be allowed in the 125 classes.

The women’s classes were redefined: One B class and one C class, ages 12 and older, bike sizes 79cc to 250F (250 2 strokes not allowed) The winner of the C class each year will be required to move up to the B class.

The board voted to eliminate the age divisions in the PG classes, and established A, B, and C classes instead. Each class is to be scored independently, regardless of double gating. The PG classes will be combined into one moto. The winners of the B and C classes must move up each year to the next higher class.

Mini 50’s will not be scored as a DNF as long as they complete 1 lap.

The board voted to allow expert riders to ride 250F bikes in the GP class.

The board voted to change the minimum number of races needed to qualify for a spring or fall championship to 60% (down from 70%)

The board changed the 50cc 4-6 and 7-8 classes to spring and fall championships.

Rules Changes:
A disqualification (DQ) can be imposed on any member by referees or board members. A DQ prevents a rider from racing both motos of any class involved, prevents the rider from earning points from those motos, and DQ’d motos can not be used as a “drop.” A DQ can be issued for one or more classes, or for the day, depending on severity of infraction.

Bill McFadden was elected as Pit Police Officer, who’s duties include enforcing generator shutoff times and curfew for youth members.

The board voted to change the generator shut off time to 10:30pm.

The board voted to remove the shoulder pad requirement from chest protectors.

The fee for a teardown because of a displacement protest was changed to $150 cash, payable by the protesting individual to NEMA, in addition to the $25 protest fee.
