I've recently bought a Yamaha WR250R dual-sport and have had a blast trying to convert as much of my 30 mile commute as possible to dirt only and bipass as many busy intersections as possible. The bike gets 73mpg and is great on the highway and on hard packed dirt trails and roads. My only issue is if I come across any soft sand my tires get no traction and the bike wants to wash out. I already dumped it once at night in the middle of nowhere on a soft burm. Can anybody recommend a tire that is geared more to the trails but will have durability on the pavement?

Thanks!

Cool thanks for the info.  I googled them and the Michelin looks more like a motocross tire and the Pirelli looks similar to what came stock on my bike but maybe a bit more aggressive.  Let me know what you go with I'd like to know how they handle.  Thanks.

I had Dunlop D606's on my older DR-350, and they worked great on both road and dirt. I'm buying those to put on my spankin' new DRZ-400. They also had exceptional wear.
My two cents.
