Didn't know it had happened again... I wonder what the cause of death was for the second one? I thought the first guy broke his neck, but the story above said blunt trauma to the chest? I can't figure that one out. It said he was wearing gear, but didn't specify. Was he wearing a chest protector? Some people say they're nothing but a roost guard. After a couple of huge get-offs last year I disagree!

Prayers for the families...hate to hear this kind of thing. Ordering a Leatt brace next week...

RE: Mototown Maddness

Unfortunately an other fatality at Mototown this week. He was wearing protective equipment.

"He was on a track that he shouldn't have been on," Ryan said. "He lost his bike and went over the handlebars."

Police are investigating.

Mototown USA, billed as the world's largest indoor motocross facility and the first in the country, opened in Windsor last summer. Officials said Cappola's death is the first there. Motocross is a form of motorcycle racing.

The facility, just south of Bradley International Airport, has three tracks, a pro shop, bike storage and vendors such as Blimpie's.

WINDSOR -- -- In the second accident at Mototown USA in as many weeks, a 35-year-old man suffered severe head injuries Tuesday when he lost control of his motorcycle on the adult track about 3:30 p.m., police said.

Windsor police Capt. Thomas LePore, who declined to identify the victim, said the man was taken to Hartford Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

LePore said members of the North Central Municipal Accident Reconstruction Team are investigating.

Mototown USA, a $15 million indoor-racing facility, opened in June and is the only facility of its type in the nation. The racing center was the scene of a fatal accident earlier this month.

Joseph Coppola, 39, of Darien, died as a result of blunt-force trauma to the chest in the Feb. 8 accident, a spokesman for the medical examiner's office said. A witness at Mototown USA told police that Coppola was coming off a jump on a motocross track when he became separated from his dirt bike and plunged to the ground.
