Stupid DVR!!!

So I have all events titled 'Motorcycle racing' set to record. But some genius at Dishnetwork changed the name in the programming guide to 'AMA Racing' and I didn't get the supercross today. If you have Tivo or Dish DVR and want to get the races you need to add 'AMA Racing' to your Season Pass (Tivo) or your DishPass (Dishnetwork). Now I have to wait until Tuesday to see it.

Don't tell me what happened!

Daytona SX

if you didnt see it... well you missed the worst.. In what is considered the greatest supercross race of all-time, Bailey went on to win the race and Johnson captured the championship that year.

Anaheim holds a special place in Bailey’s heart not only for hosting the greatest race of all time.

“Most people remember the 1986 race between me and Rick Johnson, but my greatest experience was my first race there in 1983,” said Bailey. “I was trailing the leader, Broc Glover, in the main event with goose bumps because I knew I was going to finish at least second. Then Broc made a huge mistake in the whoops, and I took over the lead! He made an incredible save, and I thought briefly that he might pass me back, but a lap later, he seemed to settle for second, and I was all alone out front. Those were the happiest laps of my career!”

“We based the Anaheim retro design on the 1986 Anaheim track for a few reasons,” said Dave Prater, director of supercross, Live Nation Motor Sports, Inc. “First, 1986 is recognized as the beginning of the modern era of supercross. The Production Rule was adopted in '86 and has stood the test of 20+ years. Finally, the race is seen by many to be the greatest supercross race of all time that featured Bailey and Johnson.”

To show support for the race, many teams and riders will be outfitted with gear and bikes that that have an ‘80’s retro theme. Former AMA Supercross class champions Bailey and Johnson are working closely with Live Nation Motor Sports, Inc., to help capture the nostalgic ‘80’s look and feel. The factory teams will display the ‘80’s works bikes that help pilot the era’s top racers to championships.

“I’m really excited about the retro theme at the second Anaheim event,” said Mike Fisher, team manager, Monster Kawasaki. “The 1980’s is where supercross really started to build to what it is today. The tracks were a lot different back then. They were slower and we’ve made a lot of safety innovations so combining the new with the old should make for a great race. I know the whole Monster Energy Kawasaki team will be ready to turn back the clock and win like we did when Jeff Ward was on our bike.”

In addition, former legends Mike Kiedrowski, Mickey Dymond, Mike Bell, Marty Smith, Jeff Ward, Sebastien Tortelli, Jeff Stanton, Mike LaRocco, Jeremy McGrath, Ricky Carmichael, Guy Cooper, Ron Lechien, Donnie Hanson, Broc Glover, Rick Johnson, David Bailey, Erik Kehoe Jim Holley and Johnny O’Mara will be on hand to sign autographs as part of the Throwback night festivities.

Fans are encouraged to dress the part for the evening and to get behind this fun, and potentially legendary race event. From the variety of on-site, ‘80s-themed promotions to the ’80’s music and videos, Throwback night will capture the essence of that special era of supercross racing

AMA Supercross Round 1

just to let people know that the first race of the 08 season is on speed (channel 136 on time warner). it starts at 10pm and ens at 1:30. pretty late for me.. i've got the dvr set to record

anahaim 2008

Does anyone have an idea of the dates for the first round in Anahaim next year in January? Should be a historical 450 race. RC will be there, Reed and Stewart will be battling, and the track is supposed to be more like an outdoor course which might help out riders like Milsaps and Windham but hinder guys like Reed. The 250F class is stacked with half a dozen guys that could win. Can't wait!!!

St Louis

I am a fan of everyone on the gate, but James causes me to exclaim out loud "No Way!" after seeing him do something that defies physics on his Kawi. That guy is from another planet. The big controversial pass where him and Reed went down...just don't see what the big deal is. I do know that Stewart is the fastest guy on the track. On his way back to the front he was passing top 10 guys like Windham and Byrne like they were on pitbikes. Unreal.

Atlanta SX - Who watched it?

Man that was an awesome race! Stewart was flyin'!!! There was one section he was doing in like 3 jumps and everyone else was doing it in 4. Even RC said he didn't have big enough cajones to try it. He was going so fast through the whoops that he had to slow down for the following triple. Crazy! Too bad for Reed. 3rd seems to be his slot most of the time even though I think he could have battled for 2nd and maybe even the lead if not for his washout and maybe if James had bobbled.

Milsaps looked great in the heat race for being out so long, but was way back in 18th for the main. Tedesco looked a lot stronger than he has been, but still seems to be a little off.

Of course the 250F (I refuse to call them Lites!) race hasn't been broadcast yet but I read the results. Ryan Dungey won!! That is so cool. He has a really cool story. Suzuki rested a lot of hope on him and he pulls off a win in his first ever AMA SX!! I hate to take pleasure in any rider's misfortune, but I had to giggle a little when I saw Mike Alessi wasn't even top 10. Of course I've never met him and shouldn't draw conclusions based on the media...but he seems like a punk.

AMA Fuel Testing

took this from AMAMOTOCROSS.COM
AMA Statement on Supercross Fuel Ruling

February 23, 2007

AMA Racing News Release

After additional investigation and consideration, AMA Racing officials have concluded that the fuels in question from the January 20, 2007 Anaheim, Calif., round of the Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series were correctly found to be in non-compliance with the 2007 AMA Supercross/Motocross rulebook. Testing has shown that the illegal substance Methyl Butynol is being added to the majority of fuels being used in Supercross.

Because of the apparent widespread use of fuels using this substance in the Supercross paddock, and the fact that AMA Racing and its competitors could not have foreseen these circumstances, the following rule will be waived until April 15, 2007 regarding these fuels in their current configuration and any other fuels using the same illegal substance, so long as they meet all other fuel specifications:

o Chapter 4 – Offenses, Penalties, Protests and Appeals; A.
