The number problem is, and was not only at MX207, Hemonds had to battle the same number issues last week end. Have some respect for the scorers!
Once again I'll give you the years ago speech... we had to have numbers on our helmets (3") block font, (6") on number plates, and also on your jerseys. If it was'nt right you went home! I realize we don't want to offend our racers, you do spend a lot of money to race, but let's plan one step further, and have pride about our numbers. ( you do want to get scored, don't you?)
Thanks, MMS Referee, and MX207 Track Ref, Ray Bergeron

RE: Proper #'s and proper colors

NESC 2008 RULEBOOK:

Number Plates

NP-1 All motorcycles must have number plates, upright, clearly visible and legible when in a riding position and securely mounted, a front plate and one on each side. As each rider goes over the finish line their rider number is written down in the 1 lap column and each lap after that goes into their own column. Think of this job when 41 bikes are on the track and several bikes are together coming over the line. THe checkers must write down each rider going over the finish line, the numbers have to be correct or your not scored correctly by the office.
Here lies the problem: The checkers write down the numbers as each one goes over the finish line. Sounds easy right.

This past weekend I am going to name only a few of the issues encountered:
1) Riders riding bikes that are not theirs and no notification to the office of the change

2) Riders riding others bikes with different numbers then their own. Yet the person wears their own racing gear, Chest Protector Helmet. This creates a problem a real problem for the checkers, Keep in mind 30 bikes at one time now coming. What number do you write down in the split second you have before 10 more bikes come? Remember 3 checkers, rider with 3 numbers on their bike or body, if each one of them writes down a different number there is a problem. This weekend people changed their front plate to their own number yet the side plates were someone else ? How would you think this might work????

3) The number of riders who have incorrect color backgrounds and plate number colors.
From this day forward you will RIDE in the class your plate's say your in or you don't ride Period. (no refunds) THe only people who will be given one race to fix these are brand new to motocross members. Other then that get the right color plates with the right number color.
I have heard far to many times from people. How come I have to spend so much money on the right graphic's and other don't. The honeymoon is over so to speak, there are no excuses. You have 2 weeks before MX207's next Race on 5/10 or 5/11. You come to the line with white plates your going into the gate in the class your plate says your in. Or you will be removed from the line.

The staff at MX-207 will be firm on the line with this, the referee's are going to be firm. The Clubs are going to be firm on this as well. NESC has already posted info on their site.

The reason for the correct color plates is to ensure when the gate is loaded the right bikes go in. It is also for the spectators to determine who is in what class if a double gate drop.
Trying to figure out where your riders position is impossible for people and it causes a lot of friction for the parents and staff when they think their rider placed differently. It always comes down to the color of the plates.

The final straw came when someone said they didn't pass a rider in front of him because he wasn't in his class he could tell by the plate color. When this person finished nd when he could have passed this person, the air fell blue to say the least. The racer was right !

Each Rulebook has specific rules on plate color and numbers. All Rulebooks are online I believe.

If you have any questions or comments please let me know. meserve92@yahoo.com
