Thanks for the Patience w/ Mother nature June 29

We just wanted to say Thanks again to all the racers and families who came to watch and race today June 29 at Skowhegan. The track was mint Sat. even with all the rain we have had lately. To wake up Sunday am to hear the rain on the camper roof, made me want to stay in bed and get as far under the covers and not come out. I too am as sick of the rain as everyone, but we promised a race. When we got hit by the storm that came thur w/ lightning and heavy rain, we shut down for it to pass, as we have the radar by cell phone to try and go by( doesnt mean it is right). I wanted to Thank everyone for being patient, staying dry with the same hopes we had to finish the day out. The storm did pass after about an 45 min. Ron jumped on the dozer, scrapped the slop off and we started back up again to complete 1 moto for the day. We even saw some blue sky. Wish the storm came earlier, we would have done 2 moto's as we did finish early, so we just wanted to Thank you for the support and patience. Our next race is July 6th, gates open at 2pm on Sat.

NO PRACTICE JUNE 24

The weather is calling for more severe thunderstorms with lightning and hail, so there is no practice. Kevin Manix, just said we have 1 1/2 weeks left of this pattern of unsettled weather. I sure hope he is right ! Last month it was too dry...... now it is too wet, no happy medium in site.

We will keep an eye on the weather, maybe we can try for next week, even tho it wasnt scheduled, no promises, so just check back.

Our next race is June 29..... calling for afternoon scattered showers right now being tue., if this is still the case we will zip thur practice to get both moto's in for you, thats the plan anyways.

RIP DAN ARNOLD, a racer sadly missed in the race community.

PRACTICE AT SKOWHEGAN

We will hold practice. Many of the riders & spectators have asked to have practice. We will start practice once school is out for the kids. The school sports and end of the 08 school year keep things hectic for everyone. We will hold practice only on the Tue.'s of our race week.

The 1 st practice will be June 24, from 4-8pm weather permitting, so always call if in question 649-4990 or 426-8922 or 649-3666, cost will be 15.00 pp riding, bring a flagger & ride for free while spots last. No pitt riding allowed even on practice night.

June 1 race

Round 2 of our series will take place on Sunday June 1. We are hoping for some rain by then !! We did the best we could do the last race w/ the lack of rain. Moon dust is everywhere. We will race rain or shine unless something crazy happens. Remember your report cards ! We gave away 7 free passes last race for the honor roll grades. Gates will open at 2pm on Sat. before the race. Registration will open up at 6:00 for sign up. The gate will close at 11pm Sat. night and reopen at 6 am Sunday. If you are ever in need of exiting for an emergancy, I am at the track in the race trailer behind the concession stand, come and get me.

At this point if we dont get some serious rain, we will not allow any camp fires. The track could use alot of water, so a nice rain would make it great.

May 25 race starts our season

May 25 will be the start of the season for our Series. Gates will open at 2pm on Sat. and close at 11pm, and reopen Sun. at 6 am. Registration will be open 6:30 - 8pm on Sat. night

We have started some track changes w/ many more to come. We will discuss weekly/bi weekly practice at the drivers meeting.

Races are Rain or Shine ! unless extreme conditions take place.

Register on Friday night only for 30.00 a class, 6-9pm, all other days will be 40.00 a class. A 20.00 weekend membership is required for N.C.S.C.

Banquet is Oct 6 on Sat. fun day stuff to take place if weather nice at 10 am sharp, If you want to come camp the night before you are welcome, we will do what we can until 11:45 when the food is started, after all is done eating we will start awards. The food and awards are happening no matter what the weather is as we will be up top and have full use of the club house.If you have an item you would like to donate for the raffel you are welcome to bring it, if you want to bring a food item, please have it there for 11:30.

Remember to have signed up for the banquet for the head count, if you forgot please call me to add you to the list 649-4990 or 426-8922.....also the FUNDAY STUFF & BANQUET IS FREE, you all earned it !!

Our goal next year in make overs weather permitting is the upper section of the track. Any ideas or suggestions please let us know...... your opinion counts to us

I also want to say Thank you to everyone for making 2007 a fun and safe race season. I know some don't like the fact we dont allow pitt riding, but we don't allow it and WON'T allow it in 2008. We DO enforce the rules, if we didnt then there is no sence to have any rules. We will also not allow electric powered, gas powered, solar powered or what ever else there is allowed to ride in the pitts. If you have a medical problem and need assistance that is different. The track staff golf cart or atv should be the only vehicle riding around. If you have a medical issue come see me to get an ok.

Kids will be welcome to bring their peddle bikes as normal and use caution.

We will keep you updated as the 2008 season approaches and schedule is done.

Found Sunday 23rd at races

This Sunday 23 at the races 2 cell phones were found. 1 of the cell phones was found in the center island so I am sure it was lost the same day, this being yesterday sunday 23. Please call me at 649-4990 if you believe it is yours. The 2nd cell phone I found on the track covered in dirt and in a dirt pile, so my guess is it was not lost this weekend and may have been lost for a while and pushed around 1 or 2 times by the dozer grooming. The phone is ok I dried it out and have it charging for you. Please call me at 649-4990 or 426-8922 if you think it maybe yours. I can mail them back to the owners, bring them to the banquet or meet you to get them back.

SKOWHEGAN BANQUET & NEWS

Our Banquet is scheduled for Sat. Oct 6th........ please be sure to sign up as we need a head count for the food.

Banquet plan is as follows: awards at 1pm up top by the club house ( If nice day we will hold it outside, if not it will be inside the club house) Food starting at 11:30 so if you plan to bring a dish please have it there by 11:30. Fun day events starting at 10:00 we will be having the fun day events down on the track if it is a nice day only...... the rest of the day will go as planned regardless of the weather. If you have an idea on a crazy game, please let us know. The fun day activities are Free to our series riders & parents.

Due to the storm that came thru, the track is damp, ruts have water in them and we dont have a race this week, so we will let the track dry out and get it ready for next week and plan practice at this time. We will be racing Aug 26 sunday rain or shine at skowhegan. We have made new track changes and still more to come. We have also made some changes to scorers location, exiting after you finish and we will allow only the parents of the atv mini, 50cc classes and 65cc classes to go in field to assist their riders if help needed. No one else allowed infield unless you are staff workers. Do not stand near scorers area please or on the jumps.

Reminder we do NOT allow PITT RIDING AT ALL........

There will be NO PRACTICE TUE. AUG. 28 at Skowhegan. This is the "Back to school week" so we also are going to take the week off to get in school season. Please pass this on to anyone you may know.

Our next race is Aug 26 sunday. Gate opens at 3pm, closes at 11pm. Sign up 6:30pm to 8 pm sat. night. sign up re opens at 7am and gate opens at 6 am on race morning.

Anyone looking to race Labor day weekend, Capeway Rovers( Middleboro, Ma) has a special 2 day race. No membership, no late fee. 10.00 per person per day, 2 day event so bring 20.00 with you. 1 class, 4 moto's in 2 days = 50.00, top 10 trophy in all classes based on over all 4 moto finish...... hope to see you there !

We will be holding practice at Skowhegan on June 26, 4-8 10.00 per rider. It will be dusty due to the lack of rain. We will water as best as we can. It is expected to be in the 90"s so bring plenty of water to drink. We will take short breaks to be sure flaggers are getting water and out of the sun if needed.

Our next race is this Sunday July 1st. It is crazy hat day....... got a crazy hat ? We will be giving out free stuff for crazy hats !! Also on Sunday..... a Vanilla Coke gets you a free practice pass !!

We will be racing 2 days this weekend. July 16 & 17.( Sat & Sun.) Each day is a full race event with 2 moto's.You must wear the wrist bands this weekend. When you come thur the gate on Friday night or Sat. morning, you will be charged for the 2 days per person like anywhere else. If you are not attending Sunday, when you leave on Sat. if you remove your wrist band at the gate in front of the gate lady, you WILL BE refunded for Sunday. This is the only way it will work, no exceptions. So DO NOT remove your band until you are up top to get a refund.

There will be NO refunds for Sunday once we start registration Sat. night for Sundays racing.

I will also warn you again..... NO pitt riding at all, no side saddle, no walking it with the motor running.

If you have any questions call me 649-4990 as I will be at the track from Thur. until Sunday night.

Pro-action would like to send out a BIG thanks to everyone who came out to the open practice on June 9th. We raised a lot of money for a good cause and had a great time doing it! I would especially like to thank Sandy and Ron Gagon for letting us use the track for the day as well as David Pavlo ( the trainer) for making the trip up to Maine and giving us all good info on how we should be training. I hope everyone had a great time!

Rules are made for reasons

I wanted to write this post as a reminder to all. At Skowhegan we dont have a thick rule book, we dont charge a membership. We are a simple track with safety rules that must be followed. If you read them most of you will see it is 99% common sence and respect. We do NOT allow any pitt riding, when you cross that bridge and exit, you kill it and push it. No side saddle, no idle. The race is over, slowly exit and shut it off. You dont ride pass the checkered flagg and go around the island to the road.... everyone exits to the right across the bridge. Yellow flagg.... single file, no passing or accelerated jumping. If the downed rider was you, you would want the respect. None of these rules are hard to understand, but they carry a 1 lap penalty. At skowhegan we DO enforce our rules. Maybe you can get away with it else where, but not here. When Insurance goes up because of pitt riding, everyone has to pay the cost. We know it is expensive to race and hold a race. If everyone works together to keep it simple and safe, we will keep the cost as low as possible for everyone to continue doing what they love. When you have to be the BAD guy and start docking laps ....... it really becomes "NOT FUN ANYMORE".

I am asking everyone to work together to keep it FUN.

Mini atv RIDERS, crawl speed means as fast as your mom or dad is "walking", 1 more race out of crawl speed or donuts, and they are being pushed like the bikes.

I DO NOT like being the BAD GUY, motocross has become so political and gotten out of control everyone forgets "What fun is suppose to be". I see parents screaming at the kids cause they didnt do well..... Dont we scream enough at them at home ? Tracks use to work together to make it better, now it is CUT throat as someone said. If you needed a tool to do a repair, you would get a helping hand from the guy you battle with, cause he wants another good race. Now it is a "sucks to be you attitude"......... tell me where the Fun went ?? We love this sport and the great familys but somedays I just want to go hide under a rock.

Again I just ask we think and look out for one another to keep it Fun. For many it is all new to them and they need a helping hand.

No practice on June 6 wed. We want the track to dry out some more for the Pro Action day open practice on Sat. June 9th.

The new schedule for practice is as follows: Month of June

All size machines, cost is 10.00 , Time is 4-8, we will break down by the bikes as they arrive. Bring a flagger , you ride for free.

June 13 wed, June 19 tue, June 26 tue.

Remember NO pitt riding on any day or race at Skowhegan

June 3rd Round 3 of the series

June 3rd is the 3 round of the series at Skowhegan. Rumor has it we may have some NCSC riders checking it out if the weather is decent. I am currently down with my on line computer, but I will get results posted on our web site very soon ( I hope) New gates are planned for the week off. Reminder on Practice June 5th is cancelled, we will instead run all bikes on Wed. June 6th. I will post a new practice schedule for June. We will go back to 1 day practice for all bikes at the cost of 10.00pp. Bring a flagger and you ride for free.

As soon as the weather settles, we will make track changes and more pit area will be available. I am sorry for any delays in the schedule, but weather is un-settled.

I will also keep you posted on Valleys mini series, you can get pictures on our web site of both skowhegan and Valley's mini series.

With the new race date for MMS at Bullrun being scheduled on Valley's mini series I dont know as of yet the out come for Valley. I will post as I know.

We spent all day and got the track in shape after the pouring rain sunday and the worst mud race in 3 years, so we will be open for practice Tue. 22nd, for 85cc and up bikes only, May 23 for the small bikes. We are racing Sat. 26th at Skowhegan for round # 2 of the point series.

Valley( norridgewock) has a 5 race mini series, no membership required, mini atv's welcomed. The race is Sunday 27th.

1st race May 20 at skowhegan rain or shine

The 1st race is Sunday May 20th. They are calling for rain Friday & Sat. We are still racing on Sunday, rain or shine. Bring the mud boots and come have some fun. We have drainage so rain will run off track and will groom it now late Sat. early Sunday morning. Channel 6 news is calling for some sun Sunday afternoon. I hope he is right as it is only Thur. and I am posting.

My only concern is the pitt areas. If you dont need to bring the motor homes this trip it will help out with the parking and or getting stuck. Any large units will need to park up top.

The track isnt like the old days, where it was thigh deep of mud. The drainage works great and the track dries fast. Maybe slippery during practice, but once turned up it will be nice. It can take alot of water, so this few inches will be ok. We have learned the grooming game due to weather. So Sunday morning early the dozer will be running full throttle.

Remember the 1st race to get there early to complete the paper work. Driver meeting is at 8:45, practice to start right after. This year practice is all timed. 1 practice per person unless you have 2 different bikes. If there are any track issues we will address them as needed. Practice should end by 10:15 and we will go right in 1st moto if there are no issues or delay's.

Same as last year, no extra vehicle's in the pitt area, park up top, leave room for racers. This race we all have to work together in the pitt area with the new pitt area almost done and the mudrun area being filled in soon the next races to come we will have much more room.

Tue 15th is the 1st day of practice for big bikes, 85cc and up only. They are calling for showers here in the afternoon. Please call 1st, if we get too much rain we will not hold practice. Southern Maine is gonna be sunny, so please call 1st 649-4990 and I can let you know what is happening. The dozer is coming Friday for this weeks race, so what you see this week, may not be what you see on Sunday. The track is the same as you saw it last year at this time. Mother nature will tell it all.

I just want to update you all. I know we have delayed practice, yes it has been nice, yes the track has been dry for a few weeks now. We have been spending many hours making things better for all. Due to the clearing of trees, it left alot of mess. 1 tree makes a huge mess, so when you count 20+ trees in 1 area, you have a really big mess. We have also cleared a new pitt area to allow more room, but cars and un-neccessary vehicles will be asked to park up on top still. One of the new parking areas is almost done, and should be by the race on the 20th. We still have more work to do in filling in the old mudd run section, which will not be done for the 1st race, but hopefully for the 2nd race. This will allow much more parking if we use it wisely. Practice is Tue. 15th, for big bikes only, Wed. 16 is smaller ones. Please check the practice post or visit our web site at www.rippinrace.com This is a temporary schedule. I will make changes weekly until the schedule is in stone. I can tell you the June 5th practice on Tue. is cancelled and Hope to reschedule for June 7th on Thur. Once school is out we will have a regular practice schedule. We have new gates going in and may have them done for the 1st race if we have the time, if not I assure you the new gates are done, just waiting for un-hurried installation. We have lots to tell you and show you as we start the season. Opening day is May 20th, RAIN OR SHINE..... gates open at 2pm the night before & close at 11pm, sign up the night before is open 6:30 to 8pm. Remember to get there early as the 1st race is the longest to register. If you would like to fill out your form on practice night, come see me. Best of luck to all for the 2007 season. practice schedule temporary

We are going to open for practice on Tue. May 15..... however, we are going to do things a bit different. This is a temporary schedule, so check in often.... due to the time and riders we are going to break practice down by sizes on days..

Tue. May 15 will be only for 85cc and up size bikes such as 125cc, 250cc, 450cc, etc. no small bikes. Time will be 4-8 or dusk, cost is 15.00

Wed May 16 will be for mini atv's, 50cc, 65cc and parent/child only. Time will be 4-8 or dusk, cost is 15.00. This is for parents who race or older siblings who are on larger bikes, so they may come the same day if they choose. This is not for uncles/aunts/buddys/friends or what have you to come ride. It is so that if dad wants to practice on the same day as he brings the child. It is to elimate the large classes and give you more riding time.

Remember if you bring a flagger, you ride for free, 1st come , 1st serve at 4pm.

No pitt riding....... walk them at all times shut off.

This is a temporary schedule at this time. I will post when and if it changes. If any questions call me 426-8922 or 649-4990. Practice is weather permitting.
