forsale- brand new black renthal rear sprocket for kawasaki 250-450

like the subject says- i've got a brand new back sprocket that I got for my 250f but stock rear sprocket is 48 on it, and I don't want to go up that far. It's perfect, never been installed, just taken out of the package, has been in my toolbox since september and I have no use for it.

i would reccomend it for a 250 2stroke or a 450, because from personal experience i can tell anybody that if you put a 51 tooth rear sprocket on a kawi 250f you're crazy. the stock 48 is almost too low geared. it wouldn't be bad for trail riding though

i'll take 50 bucks for it, thats reasonable I think.

it'll be with me at all the maine races that I'm at, and i'm usually at mx 207 practicing on tuesdays and thursdays.
Number 152 with yellow plates on a kawasaki with red and white graphics.

or give my house a call at 7932550.

i've also got a brand new 17 inch rear tire for what I'm assuming is an enduro bike. i've never in my life seen a bike with a 17 inch rear tire but if you have one you can have the tire for 20 bucks.

Racing MMS

Ive never raced with MMS before and im thinking about racing the hemonds race on july 13th.
I can get a one day pass for $10 right?
and it is $25 per class and $10 to get in the gate?
Can we stay the night before?
Any info that anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

Practice crash on 7/3

I wanted to thank everybody at the track on thursday for helping out. I was the one that launched through the double double after the 70 effectively wadding up my 450 and insuring the most painful ambulance ride I have ever had. It was a freak thing, burped the throttle going over the first roller while following my daughter and instead of the tire breaking loose and spinning it hooked full traction catching me off guard and pinning me on the throttle which is why the crash was so violent. I technically broke my back in the crash, compression fracture of L1 and I wouldn't wish this on anyone but it could have been worse.

Special thanks to Bill Stuart for being right there, scary stuff laying on a track and not being able to get up. Thanks to Levi and Josh too for helping my son get all the gear back into the truck and lastly I want to thank all of the other riders for voluntarily shutting down the track until the ambulance got me out of the way. You guys and gals didn't have to do that but it's just more reinforcement of what a tight knit community we motocrosses live in. Unfortunately this crash pretty much ended my riding for good, so I'll be going back to wrenching and coaching the kids. It's ok, as long as I can still get to a track from time to time I'll be happy.

Again, thanks to everybody that was at the track, it feels good knowing there is still some hope for humanity.

Looking for a track to ride tomorrow. Anything open? I know 207 is open Sunday but I can't make it all the way down there... Skowhegan or Valley would be closer to me. Just trying to avoid the pit as the local practice tracks are closed. :D

end of spring series

i know there doesn't need to be any more controversey on here,but i disagree with moving the end of the spring series to the 20th at valley.we budget our racing for one series only, we picked springtime,and have other commitments that cannot be changed.so by missing the last race not only myself,but my son will both be out of the top 5 by a few points,throwing away everything we worked for.we ride for a spot at the banquet,awards and jackets,which we will forfiet.i would rather shorten the series than move the end date.am i just being selfish?or is anyone else in the same situation?please no bashing just good honest feedback.

i thought it was awesome that the races were cancelled, then 20 minutes after the sun came out and it was beautiful. and how most of the people who voted to cancel were spectators and not riders, while the people who wanted to ride were the riders?

Not that it matters to me because i wasn't riding anyways.

on the other hand, it was a pretty good weekend and i think that everyone that was involved did a pretty good job. the track looked awesome yesterday.

how did everyone do?

Does anybody know where to find a waterproof backpack for cheap? I want to commute to work on my new bike and keep my laptop dry if caught in a shower. So far I'm using trash bags inside a normal backback... I've seen a couple online but they are very expensive and look like giant condoms.

tragic accident at Hemonds

My deepest sympathy's go out to the family of Dan Arnold, rider #72.

He crashed at Hemonds on Saturday, June 14th, which resulted in his death on Sunday. I have been looking for any postings letting us know where we can send cards, if there will be a funeral open to the public, if Hemonds was taking donations to go towards the funeral etc....If anyone knows anything could you please post.

National Anthem

Recently at the races I have been noticing a trend that is really starting to bug me, and that’s the lack of respect for our nation’s national anthem. After the last practice the whole track gets quiet and they play the star spangled banner, so it shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that this is going to happen. Unfortunately it is way too common lately for people to be washing their bikes, warming up there machines, or just not standing up for the minute and a half (approx.) that is takes to play the song. Two weeks ago at Bull Run someone sang the national anthem and from what I heard of it they did an awesome job, but I only heard half because someone next to me was washing a bike. Not only was that disrespectful to our great nation but also to the person who has the guts to stand up in front of all us racers and perform. I understand wanting to have your bike ready to race, but every week the first four races are 50’s and even if you are the first race after them I bet you can wash your bike or warm it up in that timeframe. Having traveled around the world and seeing a lot of different nations myself I find it absolutely amazing that we have the opportunity to participate in such a great sport. I feel standing quiet for a minute and a half is the least I can do to show my thanks to the people and the nation that allow me to participate in my favorite pastime. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the classic, I’ll be the guy standing tall and proud when our anthem is playing.

MX Mentality on Four Wheels Works!

As a result of 9 broken bones in 5 years of MX, the most recent of which was a broken back last fall, we have taken a break from MX and starting Kart racing. First, we really miss MX, especially all our friends. It has been great to see some people come to Reids kart races to watch and for those of you who have, it really means a lot to him.

He is racing at www.thunderingvalleyraceway.com in ST. Albans. It is a 1/5 mile tri-oval. They decided not to let him race in the first years racers class, which we weren't sure about as some of these kids have been racing for 5 plus years. Anyway, they put him in the Jr. Sportsman class. First heat race he gets 2nd. 30 lap final, finishes 2nd. 2nd week, same result. Saturday night, he won his Jr. Sportsman race after starting from the pole. So we decide to see if he can qualify for the Sportsman rally against the older kids. Green White Checker time trials. Top 12 Karts qualify. We changed the restrictor plate in his kart to a Gold plate (the correct one for this class) and out he goes. Turns fast lap of the day and gets the pole. Ends up winning the whole thing. Some headed were shaking afterwards.

No doubt that the MX mentality is in his favor. Speed and contact seem like a non issue when you have 4 wheels and a cage around you.

Stewy's Video and Story about "The Fight"

I want to commend Travis for his video and his commentary regarding the fight we all witnessed. He did a great job!

We unfortunately had to witness the other fight in front of our camper after the race as well.

I have no opinion regarding what went down either way-I only saw the video-but I do feel like I want to remind riders that they are examples to "younger" riders who look up to them and think they are "God"' and want to be just like them!! So how you handle yourself on the track is important. We can probably all agree we love motox not just for the racing but for the friends we have met and how it feels like family. We spend almost every weekend at the track so it makes an impression on our children. I would like to hope we are teaching them to not only be good motox riders but also good human beings as well. Please remember this even through your adrenaline and heated moments (everyone, not just the riders) Actions speak louder than words!

However, with that said, I appreciate both riders involved in the "fight's" apology on Stewy's web site!! But.....see my sentance above:(

I think this was a good eye opener for everyone and I look forward to smooth sailing for the rest of the season!!

New 2008 MMS Trophy Rules

Wondering what you think of the new MMS Awards Rule: 5 riders or less only get 1st place award, 6-8 1st and 2nd awards and 9 or more are eligible for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards.(Only applicable to certain classes)

I saw more than one person this past weekend, disappointed they didnt get trophies they raced hard for after paying their class fee like everyone else.

Why is it if there is only one person signed-up for a class they get a 1st place trophy for just riding around with no competition? Why should paying riders(especially those who race loyally every weekend) get penalized because theres not enough sign-ups. Some racers( especially those loyal racers that aren't as skilled and fast as others) look forward to a low turn out so they can get a chance to come home with a trophy. Their not getting an opportunity.

The new 50+ class riders pay $25 each and get nothing? 50+ plus riders should at least get a seniors discount!

How much does a trophy cost compared to the money made per class? If trophies are that expensive maybe they should up the sign-up fee to $30. Its still less $ per class than NESC

To most people, a big part of racing is about winning trophies. Why should the riders lose out.

I realize it's costly to run these events but dont cheat the people who are making it happen. I know NESC has the same award rules, but if the NESC jumped in a lake would the MMS be right behind them?

Dont get me wrong the MMS is a great organization and the people who run it are awesome and definitley deserve more, but we work hard for our money also.
