That was the first track/race I ever went to. That's what started my illustrious motocross career, and yes Jimmy Ellis was there. I think I have a photo of him somewhere.
Thanks for serving Fact5. I was actually able to see a Motocross "des" Nations in Germany while in the Army.
Bull Run tomorrow, and the last time I raced there I was on a CR-500. The europeans used to come over to bang bars. I do not know if this is true, but if anyone nows for sure whether yes or no would be great.:)

RE: Bull Run Sunday

Thank you Sir for your service to the country.:)

RE: Bull Run Sunday

Crap I paid $1200 for my brand new 1979 YZ-125 (in "79"). I wish I could pay $1000 these days. And yes the Lisbon Track has to be the oldest. That was the first track/race I ever went to, and Jimmy Ellis was there. I still have old pictures somewhere of that day. That was the beginning of my not so illustrious MX career.
Also thanks for serving fact5. Thanks to the US Army I was able to see a Motocross "des" Nations in Germany. That was a blast.

RE: Bull Run Sunday

ok lets rephrase this... Back then the "Normal yellow Yamaha MX 250 cost 1,000 and had 26 hp. Then for $800 more you could get the YZ which had a whopping 36hp! It is one of the only times in Motocross history that one manufacturer came out with a bike the was worlds better than all the rest, damn near an unfair advantage. It was so impressive I joined the army for the $2,500 combat arms bonus and bought one when I returned from Infantry School.

RE: Bull Run Sunday

I used bull run as a practice track back in 1981 and I still have a picture of my old race bike too.

Buy the way Shawn it's a RM250 1981, I think I paid $1000 for it new.

RE: Bull Run Sunday
srg120 (5/16/2008)
No hard feelings Shawn.....I was just trying to enlighten anyone reading this forum topic. I raced in Skowvegas in 1982 when they 1st opened. I beleive Bull Run was not used as a sanctioned event until late 1980's.
