I thought I just bought a fantastic deal on a 2006 Honda CRF250 but as soon as I got it home and ran it for a few minutes coolant started flowing steadily out of the overflow tube.  I tried putting a different radiator cap from my CRF450 but that didn't work.  Somebody told me it's probably a bad head gasket but another said that the oil should look cloudy if that's the case which it doesn't.

Any theories?

What's the plug look like? I doubt it's a head gasket. Have you tried draining and refilling?

Was the radiator filled to the top when you started the bike? could it just be expansion?
A head gasket can put coolant into the oil, but it is possible depending on where the leak
is for compression to force combustion gasses into the water jacket and not into the oil passages.

Nick I was told Derek's problem was also the head gasket.

Yes the radiator was filled to the top with coolant.  I haven't looked at the spark plug yet as I have to take the gas tank off to get to it.  I'm bringing it to a mechanic Tuesday I just hope it's not and endless mystery and a compression check will get to the bottom of it.
