| | I'm thinking about buying a 2 year old CRF250 four-stroke. It has a fresh top end but no bottom end work. To you other 250 four stroke owners how often do you redo your bottom end? Should I even worry about it? |

| | The crf250 is a really good bike.I have seen one come in to my shop with no oil!! bottom end fine. You should pull off the rotor cover and take a clean rag and wipe down the inside of the rotor. This is a magnet,it will tell you a lot. After you wipe all the grime out of the rotor, take a magnet to the grime. You may find the tips of the valve springs, grime or fine metal shavings. On a crf250 metal shavings are from the crank. J.D. |

| It was the 450 KXFs that had crank issues, not the 250Fs. I have never heard of ANY bottom end problems with the KXF/RMZ 250F. The 1st model year (2004) of the KXF/RMZ had some problems with valves, overheating, and 3rd gear. They were also a pain to change the oil because you had to drain the coolant too. For '05 they got larger radiators, stronger tranny gears, and a separate oil/coolant cover. Valves still had issues but yours doesn't.
You seem like you're having some worries with your new bike. I am confident you will love it and I wouldn't worry about reliability. It's alot easier to go fast on it compared to a 125. |

| Pat, who's bike are you buying? that helps alot in knowing how the bottom end is. Do you still have the 450? it would probably be around the same amount of time on each before you would want to rebuild the bottom end. Maybe a bit later on the 250f.

| | I haven't found one in good enough shape yet. I want a CRF250 and it's looking like I might have to buy new as I can't find any good deals. Yup I still have my 450 |
