| | My son and i have recently gotten back into dirt biking and wanted to know about riding on some of the sled/atv trails in maine. We ride sleds all winter in the usual places like Jackman, Greenville, Rangley and Millinockett areas. I know we need to register, but do they allow bikes on these trails? Anyone know how to find out? |

| | Binnie Rule of thumb in Maine is you can't ride ATVs on Snowmobile Trails. Although, some trail clubs now have combination Snowmobile/ATV trails. The only trails you can legally ride are ones posted as ATV Trails....usually a white sign with a green ATV silhouette. In case you don't know, Maine considers dirt bikes as ATVs, but, because most trails are owned by private landowners, some trails are restricted to what you can ride on them. The best place to check to see where you can legally ride, is the local trail club. You can go to www.atvmaine.org to find these clubs. I would strongly suggest that you join one (or more) clubs so that they can use your membership dues toward trail maintance and expansion.
