| | Valley's up next this Sunday: forcast is 70% chance of rain Saturday night and one to two inches falling for Norridgewok/Skowhegan area. Sunday is 70% chance of rain and another one to two inches of rain during the day. This one going to get postponed or not? Anyone want to make a bet? My money says it gets canceled...

| I used to love the mud races. It was the only time I had decent finishes. All the fast talented guys would have such problems. Slow and steady baby.

This one going to get postponed or not? Anyone want to make a bet? My money says it gets canceled...i'll take that bet!!! we are racing!!! betcha!! ;-) rain or shine... motocross goes on!!!!! with today's weather forcast sites on the net, weather radars, computer models, its not too hard to figure out when its going to be pouring and when its not, especially 24 to 36 hrs from the morning we race. If any track in Maine can hold water and take a pounding and still be rideable, its Valley Motorsports Park. The soil eats up water, but only to a certain point then there's big ponds at the low spots when the ground gets saturated there's no place for it to go. Sure you could go race it, but at what price? And why do it when there's rain dates built into the schedule for just these reasons. Postponing until Oct 12 seems smart given the amount of rain forcast for saturday night and sunday. I fully understand the position of the track operators: the Stuarts, Hemmonds, Taylors, Gagnon's all need to weigh the expense of hosting an event versus the potential gate receipts. Hosting a 160 entry MMS race vs a 300 entry MMS race probably is the difference between losing $3000 and meeting expenses and/or (hopefully) coming out a little ahead. We all want to see these great tracks stay viable and open for us to go race at: they can't continue if they don't get decent turn outs and weather affects that. The old-school argument of motocross being a rain-or-shine, run it at all costs, event is less of a decision maker than hard economic facts facing track promoters. I'm sure its not easy to decide to postpone a race. I'm at least grateful the decision was made early enough before people traveled to the track. We need this persistant weather to blow the heck out of here. It may take an east coast hurricane/tropical storm to change the weather pattern we're facing right now. Kevin
